New website Caribbean Motors

April 4th, 2007 by Joost Schrier

We are proud to announce that yesterday we put the new website for Caribbean Motors Curacao on-line. Their old website had gotten very heavy and unorganised and the design was definitely due for a make-over. You can find the new website at www.caribbeanmotors.com or you can check out the official blurb at our own website (www.dgfmedia.net).

This new website of Caribbean Motors Curacao is mostly about the design and somewhat about functionality. The new design is sleek and jazzy with a Caribbean touch. It is modeled after the Mitsubishi USA website, but a bit less fancy (the budget is a bit lower on Curacao than in the USA).

When you look at the design there are some features that grab the attention.

  • The images in the flash-animation on the homepage are all high-quality images
  • The links to the cars are on all pages and you can access them from anywhere on the website
  • Every car-page has a link to the photo gallery to wet the appetite some more
  • Only the most important specifications are shown
  • ‘Banners’ are used throughout the website to promote important pages
  • All images that incorporate photographs either show a branded product or an attractive car

Caribbean Motors as a company is geared towards the local market and they have a good reputation here on Curacao. Because they focus on the Curacaoan market they did not want too much functionality in the website. The website needs to be about the cars and getting people interested enough to come to the showroom where their people will apply the personal touch. As a result there are only three forms in the entire website of which one is a form that is only used by parts dealers and mechanics. (so, this was a boring website for the web developer)

The client in this case felt that they did not need any Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). Because they are so wel known on Curacao they did not want to spend any extra money on this. We hope that maybe in the future they will reconsider this so we did make the website in such a manner that basic on-site SEO is taken care of and any extra work will be relatively easy to implement.

We are very happy with the work we did and wish Caribbean Motors good luck with their new website.
