Search marketers happy with ROI

According to a new report from JupiterResearch many search marketers are satisfied with the return on investment from Search Engine Marketing (SEM). As a result they are willing to spend more on SEM this year.

Apparently 65 percent of advertisers expect to spend more this year, 7 percent want to spend less and the rest does not plan to do either. The two major concerns for marketers appear to be rising prices for keywords and measuring the offline impact of Search Engine Marketing.

Our own expectation for Curacao is roughly the same as the conclusions in this US report.More and more companies are talking about using search engine marketing (and internet marketing in general). Two years ago there were only a few companies on Curacao even thinking about using their website to attract clients/customers and to actively attract these people to their website using on-line methods. Sure, some companies put a banner on the more popular local or tourist websites (depending on their line of business), but that was about it. If you do a search in Google for Curacao today you actually get some text ads for Curacaoan businesses and we think that this amount will only grow.

We discuss Internet Marketing, including SEM, with most of our clients and more and more clients are actually interested. Right now we are working on SEM with only about 10% of our clients, but that’s a lot more than half a year ago (0% at that time) and our prognosis is that we can interest about 30-40% by the end of the year. We will let you know by that time if the prognosis is on the money.
